WHY DO WE NEED DOULAS?
Doulas, or birthworkers, provide emotional, physical, and educational/informational support throughout the full-spectrum of reproductive experiences + outcomes. Birthworkers keep up to date on all the latest evidence-based information related to pregnancy, childbirth and newborn care. We do the research on every option so you can choose what’s best for you.
During labor, birthworkers strive to protect and create you birth setting to ensure your space is relaxing and cozy. We focus on your comfort by offering physical support like pain-relief techniques (counter pressure, massage, etc.). We teach partners and support persons how to support you in whatever way you desire.
PLEASE NOTE:
Birthworkers do not diagnose, perform clinical tasks, give medical advice, or make decisions or offer opinions on your behalf. They serve as advocates and offer education, support, and communication as requested.
